Solutions provided:

A homeowner wanted to transform their basement into a safe and functional living space. During our inspection, we discovered several issues that needed to be addressed before the space could be finished. The foundation walls were under significant hydrostatic pressure, which had caused them to crack and bow inward. In addition, moisture was seeping through the walls, creating the potential for long-term structural damage and unhealthy living conditions. Our testing also revealed elevated radon levels above 4.0 pCi/L, which posed a health risk and needed immediate attention.

To resolve these issues, we installed a full perimeter moisture drainage system designed to capture and redirect water intrusion away from the foundation. This system was paired with a sump pump to ensure water collected was safely discharged away from the home, providing reliable protection against basement flooding. The drainage system not only addressed the moisture concerns but also helped to relieve the hydrostatic pressure contributing to the wall movement. For added structural support and stability, we installed a series of steel beams to reinforce the foundation walls and prevent further bowing. Once the structural and water concerns were addressed, we installed a radon mitigation system to reduce radon gas levels to a safe range, ensuring the air quality in the home was healthy for the occupants.
