Why did the customer contact us?
A homeowner contacted us after discovering water leaking through her foundation wall and pooling in the basement. At the time of our inspection, water had accumulated to approximately one inch deep in parts of the space. Because the basement included finished, livable areas, the flooding needed to be addressed immediately to prevent further damage.
Solutions provided:
After a comprehensive evaluation, we implemented a multi-step solution to stop the intrusion at its source and protect the basement long-term.
First, we sealed the front porch area to prevent surface water from penetrating above the foundation wall. We also repaired a failing downspout that had been leaking and contributing to water buildup near the foundation.
To manage any future groundwater intrusion, we installed an interior basement drain system along the affected foundation wall to collect water at the point of entry. A wall moisture barrier was added to direct seepage into the drainage system rather than allowing it to enter the living space. Additionally, we installed a trench drain to capture any water coming from overhead areas.
Finally, a sump pump system was installed to remove collected water and discharge it safely away from the home.
The result: a dry, protected basement and peace of mind for the homeowner.
