Why did the customer contact us?
The homeowner had recently purchased this property and wanted to ensure that all concerns identified during the home inspection were properly addressed. They had moved in during a severe cold freeze and immediately noticed extreme cold penetrating through the floors. There were also concerns about possible moisture intrusion, fungal growth, structural stability, and overall energy efficiency and comfort.
Solutions provided:
After a comprehensive crawlspace inspection, we identified clear evidence of moisture intrusion along with areas of fungal growth. To properly manage groundwater and prevent future moisture issues, we installed a sump pump system with an interior perimeter drain line. This system collects water beneath the crawlspace and safely directs it to the exterior of the home.
Once moisture control was established, we addressed the fungal growth through professional remediation procedures.
To provide long-term protection, we performed a full crawlspace encapsulation using a durable, cross-woven vapor barrier. The barrier was professionally installed to cover the crawlspace floors, foundation walls, and support piers, creating a sealed environment designed for long-lasting performance.
For improved thermal efficiency and comfort, we installed insulation at the rim joists, sealed crawlspace vent areas, and added insulation along the foundation walls. These improvements significantly reduce cold air infiltration and help stabilize interior floor temperatures.
We also installed a new crawlspace access door for added protection and energy efficiency. To improve structural stability, we added blocking between floor joists throughout the home, strengthening and stabilizing the existing floor system.
The result is a dry, structurally reinforced, and energy-efficient crawlspace that supports long-term home health and comfort.
